Some customers may prefer to order RTM Stain Bases and mix their own custom stains as needed.  The formula shown on each Swatch is the recipe needed to prepare your own stain utlizing the 10 Base Colors + Clear Base.

Examination of various Swatches and the corresponding formula can help you determine which RTM Stain Bases will result in particular color ranges.  Use this information to identify and order only the Base Colors and sizes that you need.

The chart below is an excellent reference for your stain blending requirements.

• Note that the appearance of Swatch colors varies on different monitors and are intended as a guide only.
• The swatches shown have been hand applied by brush to MDF core veneer (Maple & Oak) panels and clear coated with General Finishes Clear Polyurethane.  Other species/materials or topcoats may affect the final results.
• Spray application of the stains may yield lighter or darker final results depending on technique and number of passes applied.
• The entire finishing schedule should be tested on relevant off-cuts prior to applying stains and finishes to any project materials.
