I will never go back to backed paper disc
Mesh sanding is great! Very durable, very efficient (you need a vacuum to be plugged on your sander). Really love it! I even tested it on Elm end grain, it's almost unsandable but with the mesh disc, I was able to obtain a good good!
Mirka Abranet Mesh Discs
This is why I appreciate this product so much. The disks last at least 3 - 4 times longer than conventional cloth or paper backed disks. 1: The extraction of the dust from the sanding zone picks up far more sanding debris than it would with a conventional disk and this is why this product is so efficient. When you sand, you create a lot of dust. The concept of fabric use in this disk lets the dust go thru the disk and go directly in the dust collector of ROS or the vacuum plugged into it. 2: There will be no heat at the sanding time, because it is so open-mesh, most of any heat is diffused by the surrounding air. If there is no heat the abrasive will last longer. In conclusion : the price of the Abranet is more expensive than the standard sanding disk or 3x Norton. But this extra cost is worth it, they last longer and give a better finish. I will almost guarantee once you have tried one disk, you will not look back to the old fashion disk.
